The Welding Carpenter continues to create and supply bespoke metal sculpture, fire pits and handcrafted garden furniture for customers across Kent and the South East.
Although Dan’s main workshop is now based near Brecon in Mid Wales, Kent remains an important part of the business. Dan regularly travels back to Kent to visit family and friends and fulfil existing work commitments. With an established customer base, regular events and an ongoing presence in the county, he continues to accept both private and commercial commissions throughout Kent.
From one-of-a-kind garden sculptures and made-to-order fire pits to robust outdoor furniture for homes, hotels, campsites and hospitality venues, every piece is individually designed and handcrafted using reclaimed wood, salvaged metal and materials with a history.

Bespoke Metal Sculpture and Garden Art in Kent
Dan creates original metal sculptures and garden art for private gardens, landscaped grounds and commercial outdoor spaces across Kent.
Many pieces are inspired by animals, nature and the materials themselves. Reclaimed tools, scrap metal, nuts, bolts and salvaged components are transformed into sculptures with their own character and story.
You can commission a piece based on a particular animal, idea, location or occasion, or work with Dan to develop something completely original. Larger statement sculptures can also be designed for hotels, pubs, campsites, garden centres and other public-facing spaces

Dan continues to design and supply handmade fire pits for customers throughout Kent. Each fire pit is made to order, with the size, shape, finish and practical requirements tailored to the space in which it will be used.
Designs range from straightforward steel fire bowls to larger statement fire pits, cooking fires and custom pieces for gardens, patios, holiday accommodation and hospitality venues.
Delivery is available across Kent, including Maidstone, Ashford, Canterbury, Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Medway and the surrounding areas
Handmade Garden Furniture for Kent Homes and Businesses
Dan creates strong, practical garden furniture from reclaimed wood, steel and solid oak. Every piece is made individually, giving customers an alternative to mass-produced outdoor furniture.
Commissions can include benches, tables, chairs, picnic benches, planters, shelving, outdoor dining sets and furniture designed for a particular garden or commercial setting.
Dan also works with campsites, pubs, hotels, wedding venues, garden centres and other businesses that need robust outdoor furniture with plenty of character. Larger orders and furniture designed for regular commercial use are welcome.

You don’t need to arrive with a completed design. Dan can work from a rough idea, photograph, sketch, particular material or simply a description of the space.
Before work begins, the design, dimensions, materials, practical requirements, delivery arrangements and cost will be agreed. Larger pieces can also be designed with transportation and installation in mind.

An Established Connection with Kent
The Welding Carpenter grew from Dan’s Kent workshop, building a loyal customer base through commissions, recommendations, local stockists and appearances at country fairs, garden shows and events including the Kent County Show. (See Dan on the left after a very busy Kent County Show)
Although Dan is now primarily based in Mid Wales, he regularly travels back to Kent to visit family and friends and fulfil existing work commitments. He continues to work with customers across the county and returns for selected shows, deliveries and commissioned projects.
Existing and new customers can still commission bespoke pieces, arrange delivery and meet Dan at events in Kent.
Dan’s work can also be seen at Loddington Farm Shop near Maidstone, where a selection of handcrafted pieces and fire pits is displayed outside the café.
